Regulations of the Recognition of Learning Outcomes
Recognition of Learning Outcomes
Rules for the Recognition of Learning Outcomes in Foreign Language Courses at the Foreign Language Centre (SNJO UJD) in Częstochowa (for Traditional, E-learning, and Blended-learning Formats)
Students may apply for the recognition of learning outcomes and the transfer of grades from a foreign language course upon meeting the conditions specified below:
I. Previously Completed Language Courses (Full or Partial)
The student has completed a foreign language course at SNJO UJD or another higher education institution, and the learning outcomes are compatible, meaning all the following requirements are met simultaneously:
Same foreign language.
Language proficiency level: Minimum B2 for First-cycle (undergraduate) studies; minimum B2+ in ESP (English/Foreign Language for Specific Purposes) for Second-cycle (postgraduate) studies. For Second-cycle studies, recognition of learning outcomes from a different field of study is not permitted due to the highly specialized nature of the curriculum tailored to individual programmes.
Equivalency of contact hours:
Full-time First-cycle studies: min. 120 hours
Full-time Second-cycle studies: min. 45 hours
Part-time First-cycle studies: min. 72 hours
Part-time Second-cycle studies: min. 27 hours
Equivalency of ECTS credits: Minimum 10 ECTS credits for both full-time and part-time First-cycle studies; 3 ECTS credits for both full-time and part-time Second-cycle studies.
Certified completion of ESP (Language for Specific Purposes): If a student has previously completed a General Foreign Language course but is currently enrolled in an ESP course, partial recognition of learning outcomes may be granted. In this case, the student is required to complete the specialized language component at SNJO UJD. Full recognition of learning outcomes is possible if the student has previously completed an ESP course and is currently enrolled in a General Foreign Language course.
Compatibility of learning outcomes is recognized, and grades are transferred accordingly for the corresponding semesters and the final examination.
If a student did not complete the full number of required hours in their previous language course, partial recognition of learning outcomes may be granted for the completed hours. The student must complete the missing hours and learning outcomes, provided that all other aforementioned criteria (language compatibility, proficiency level, and ECTS credits) are met.
Learning outcomes are recognized and grades are transferred regardless of a change in the mode of study (e.g., from full-time to part-time, or vice versa), provided that the language and the proficiency level are fully compatible.
II. Submission of Language Certificates
First-cycle (undergraduate) students may apply for the recognition of learning outcomes for both the language course and the final examination in the same language upon submitting a recognized language certificate. The certificate must prove language proficiency at a minimum of C1 level according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and meet the required conditions. (For details, see the "List of Certificates Exempting Students from Language Courses and Examinations" table below). Alternatively, submitting a certificate at B2 level exempts the student only from the final examination, resulting in a passing grade.

Second-cycle (postgraduate) students may apply for the recognition of learning outcomes upon submitting a certificate that confirms proficiency in ESP relevant to their specific field of study. (Grades are awarded in accordance with the "List of Exempting Certificates" document available below).

Third-cycle (doctoral) students may obtain recognition of learning outcomes upon submitting a certificate confirming foreign language proficiency at B2/C1 level.
III. Students and Graduates of Foreign Philology Programmes
First-cycle students who are either graduates or concurrent students of a Foreign Philology programme in the same language they are taking at SNJO UJD may apply for a credit transfer. For graduates, the grade from their diploma is transferred. For concurrent philology students, the grade average from the Practical Proficiency in a Foreign Language (PNJO) module is transferred. This provision does not apply to Second-cycle students (due to the ESP requirement).
IV. General Terms and Conditions for All Applicants
The recognition of learning outcomes and credit transfer in all the aforementioned cases is possible only:
After the student has officially registered for the foreign language course in the USOS system.
After fulfilling all the criteria listed above.
Upon submitting documents confirming compliance with the criteria to the course instructor. Documents must be delivered in the format required by the instructor, appropriate to the mode of delivery of the classes. In the case of a Student Periodic Achievement Card (Karta Okresowych Osiągnięć Studenta), a certified copy stamped and signed "certified true copy of the original" is required.
Provided that the supporting documents were issued no more than 5 years prior to the application date. Graduates of Foreign Philology programmes are exempt from this time limit.
Any cases not covered by these regulations shall be considered individually by the Director of SNJO UJD and the Education Quality Committee.
