Course Delivery & Registration
Teaching & Learning
Overview of Course Delivery
The Foreign Language Centre (SNJO) provides language courses through two primary modes: on-site (in-person) and e-learning, available for undergraduate (Bachelor’s), graduate (Master’s), and doctoral students in both full-time and part-time study programmes.
General Information & Registration
- Token-based Registration: Registration is conducted via the USOS system before each semester. Students may choose their preferred instructor and mode of study, subject to seat availability.
- Course Formats: Groups marked as "e-kurs" in USOS are conducted entirely online. Groups without this designation are held on-site at the SNJO premises.
- Mandatory Attendance: Regardless of the chosen format, the first class must be attended in person according to the schedule. During this meeting, e-learning students receive access to the course on the enauka.ujd.edu.pl (Moodle) platform.
- Continuity: Once a language is selected in the first semester, it cannot be changed throughout the duration of the language requirement.
Study Cycles & Requirements
- Undergraduate (Bachelor’s): Courses begin in the second semester and continue for four consecutive semesters (total of 120 teaching hours, 30 hours per semester).
- Graduate (Master’s): Courses begin in the first semester and typically last two semesters (total hours may vary depending on the specific field of study).
- Doctoral Studies: Courses are offered in English, German, or Russian, with the number of hours determined by the specific doctoral programme.
Modes of Study
1. Full-time Programmes (On-site & E-learning)
- On-site Classes: Conducted at the University premises in accordance with the course syllabus and the SNJO Regulations.
- E-courses (Moodle): Delivered via the university's e-learning platform: www.enauka.ujd.edu.pl. Detailed participation and assessment rules are available in the E-learning Platform.
2. Part-time Programmes (50/50 System)
- Blended Learning (50/50): These courses combine on-site sessions during weekend "zjazdy" (meetings on-site) with online components. Some sessions may be conducted via the Big Blue Button communicator.
- E-courses: Similar to full-time programmes, these are conducted via the Moodle platform.
Communication & Academic Support
We provide comprehensive support through regular office hours (consultations):
- On-site Consultations: 2 teaching hours per week at the SNJO premises (schedules are posted in USOS, on the SNJO website, and on office doors).
- Online Consultations: 1 teaching hour per week via the Moodle platform (by prior email appointment with the instructor).
- Official Correspondence: All student-teacher communication should be conducted via USOSmail or the official university email system.
